i would go but gobhill and i dont get along right now, back in january after a thaw before they put their notice on th website, i drove an hour and a half with three people in a diesel truck to go riding and they told me we couldnt ride bcause it is too muddy, we went to marseilles and they were open and so was everybody else, even though the owner of the go said they were all closed, as far as im concerned that place wont see my money again, and come on they make a mud bog but wont let you ride when its muddy, seems kind of silly to me. good luck to all who attend though

Sounds like a bad day for you Clem! I would be upset if I was you as well! From what I know the reason they close is mainly because of the parking lot. Apparently last weekend they had to get a wrecker to winch out the trucks from the parking lot. I do know as well they try to keep it closed when it gets real bad for ruts as well. We hope to see you at the next ride to Keithsburg.

Clemm, I understand your aggravation and I sympathize, however, you could have avoided the bad experience if you would have contacted them before you left home. I have to side with Gob Hill on this one. I personally applaud the parks that care enough about their investment and clientele to close when the ground is too soft. Gob Hill is not alone in this decision; the Iowa DNR will close their parks as well in rainy weather. I understand you and several others on this forum like riding in mud, and that’s fine in designated areas, but as your pictures of the Cliff’s prove, quads can do a lot of damage to muddy trails. As I have stated in several posts on this forum, every park has something different to offer to different riding styles and I personally hate riding in heavy ruts. I have been to the Cliffs and the trails were so rutted up that I couldn’t even enjoy myself and left after only a couple hours. The fact that you say the Cliffs let you ride when it was muddy does not surprise me after my experience there. As I said, I’m sorry you and your friends had a bad experience at Gob Hill but I commend them for their decision. We all need to remember to leave these parks in the same condition as when we arrived.

i did look on gobhills website and it said nothing about being closed, so thats why i was upset, and on the side of being muddy, gobhill is more of a mudpark since it has the two lakes in it, if they dont want my business then they are turning away a lot of other bikes as well, may as well call it a go cart track if you cant tear it up a little bit. im glad to see others opinios on this and im not trying to stir things up just was upset that their website didnt post being closed and when we got here there was no sign as well. the lakes at the gob and several other areas are for mud and thats why i liked it, so when they are closed because its muddy, then it makeds riders like me go elsewhere. and now that they are going to have a mudbog area, they will see more ground get torn up from that than they are expecting. ive probably ranted more than i should but i didint buy my atv and pay taxes for these parks to see them closed. ok im done lol lets ride
