I know I am probably going to catch grief over this debate but it's something that just drives me crazy! (short trip, I know) Debate question: What is your opinion of the use of abbreviated texting on free forum websites?

Guess what? I'm not a big fan of the practice! I know the argument is going to be that it saves time and money when using cell phones because they charge you for each typed character, but that's not the case on these forums. I'm not saying everyone needs to be an English major (God knows I make my fair share of spelling and grammar mistakes) but at least spell the entire word out, not everyone knows that "idk" means "I don't know" and when you finish a thought put a period behind the sentence and start the new sentence with a capital letter. Please don't let my ramblings deter any of you from posting in the future, I mostly just wanted to get this off my chest!

Now you see, I almost had to ask you what that meant but I think I got it. Correct me if I'm wrong but "G2G" (got to go) "TTYL" (talk to ya later) and "LMAO" (laughing my a$$ off). I think you are right, it's a generation thing and yes, you may have to start a definition list for me!

i like it u only get 141 letters with spaces so it takes up less space so if u talk to collage kids or u get jokes on your fone it helps plus textin is better than talkin if u have a freind that will talk your ear off u dont have to reply rite away plus textin on sprint is like 5 buxs unlimited for the month i use it ever morn textin some friends gm and stuff like that it may take alittle longer if u dont text fast on the comp it dont matter u get lots of space to type i got some girls that can text 141 words in less than a min u should see how fast they r on have fun cya

I speak english. To be clear: Add me to the list of people would prefer to see forum posts spelled out in full words (even if they are sometimes misspelled) that everyone can easily understand. What do you mean misspelled? ;D LOL If it was not for spell check my post would look like poorkawi's post all the time! Now I need a gram mer checker!

I am bringing this post back up due to a recent post on another thread. Any more thoughts on this subject? I know my opinion has not changed.

the texting dosent bother me that much. it takes a little bit of gettin used to, but in the end helps if you would want to text rather than talk. however in support of the fathers and mothers of our beloved atv-rinding not-club, the new words introduced to our language by the younger generations are driving me crazy. im almost 22 and even i cant keep up with these kids. when did the term "minute" relate to a long time period. i think the new language is called "urbanism" and "ebonics"
