You didn't mention what year your Raptor is but as long as it's running good and you have it just the way you want, I would say keep the Raptor and use the extra money to buy some BLING for the old girl. ;D

Oops! I just realized that the 03 Raptor in the "For Sale" section is the one you are talking about. That is one sharp looking ride and I love the color! I still stand by what I said in my previous post though, keep the Raptor! Why spend the cash if you don't have to?

Junk the Raptor, and get the new 450!!!!!!!! I personally don't like the Raptor because they sit so dang high up there! I haven't rode the 08 kfx450, but I have heard MANY people say good things about them, even Honda riders!!! Correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is the lightest 450 out there right now. If I had to pick Raptor or 08 KFX 450 I wouldl say KFX 450

I would trade the Raptor in on a new honda 700xx if I was you. But if you want a KFX 450 then here are my thoughts.
This is the first year for fuel injection for the KFX( might not have all the bugs out yet ). If you are big into engine mods I would shy away due to the fact that efi is much harder to tune than your basic carb due to the lack of parts available for the new efi quad.
If the bike is fast enough as is and all you want is a better exhaust and air filter than I would go with the KFX over the raptor due to a MAJOR increase in handling and stability by the KFX450.
Just my opinion take it or leave it.

By the way Mojo your telling him to Junk a perfectly good quad and go for a better one. Maybe you should think about taking your own advice. HEHE

HEHE Well I didn't mean to "junk it", I meant get rid of the Raptor and get the KFX450. I have heard some people really talking good about them, but I am yet to actually see one perform. My Mojave is far from junk!! You have only known me for a little bit now, and I actually haven't done the "tweaking" I should have. I knew I was running rich when I went to Gob Hill, but I figured I would tweak it later, but i didn't expect the stupid spark plug to foul on me! I just got back from Quad Docs and picked up some new smaller jets and I will install them this weekend!

i have heard great things about the kfx450 it had a good review in dirtwheels in feb. i think but on the other hand the your raptor is bad a$$ which i dont normaly like the looks of the raptor. i guess you have a tough choice.

Yeah its a tough choice...I love how much power the raptor has but it just handles like a barge when we are in the tight wooded trails. I would like to have something with just as much zip and torque but without feeling like i am sitting 4 foot off the ground and about to tip over in every corner...from what i hear the 450 can provide the power with the right mods to compete with the raptor with alot better handling

It would be a lot cheaper to look into the a-arm and shock setups for the raptor. You can have your cake(power) and eat it too(handling), for much cheaper than trading for a new quad. If you think you have a barge , then I will let you see if you are man enough to pilot my kfx700(longer,wider, heavier, more powerful).

yeah i thought about looking into upgrading the suspension but the upgrade to long travel wide a arms will end up costing me just about as much as i would have to put towards a new quad after i sell the raptor. The 450 i am looking at already has suspension work done to it. Im a smaller framed guy...160 soaking wet with my boots on...so the lighter the quad the more control i can have over it.
I keep hearing that its hard to beat the raptor for trail riding but for mx the 450 will walk all over it. I want the machine that falls right inbetween those two. I just dont know if thats the raptor with a new suspension set up...or the 450 with a modded motor...either way i will have a good quad, but why be good...when you can be great?

If a 450 does not have enough power for you , you need to get an old quadzilla. I yet have found a stock raptor that my slightly modified( exhaust & filter) cant handle in the quick runs you get on any trails or the track. Dragstrip ? who knows. I am a true believer in the performance of YAMAHA, but have never been a big fan of the raptor. The KFX has reverse and to me that is the one thing all other 450's need. I would make the change. MOJO, MOJO, MOJO. Always talking without knowing. The YFZ was, is, and hopefully always will be the lightest 450 on the market at 350#. The KFX is 364.

I guess I was talking out my A$$ lol Would this be the first time? Seriously though I've heard and read some great things about the KFX. From what I've gathered if you enjoy trail riding or racing. Like the GNCC or harescrambles in general, or you love flying through the air the KFX is a great quad for either. If I were to buy a new quad and they still didn't offer my YFZ with a reverse I'd look at it for sure.
