I decided that my daughter should start walking to school to get some exercise and with me at all times. So, my question is.....Is 30 minutes to long to have to walk to school? We would walk in the morning and afternoon so it would be an hour for the day. She is going on 8. I don't think its too long plus we get to talk about whatever pops in her head to talk about(complaining about walking was her thoughts today LOL). But one parent I said that too just looked at me like I was crazy!! So what are your thoughts on it?? Thanks!! ;D

i think its a good idea and good exercise just keep an eye on her grades or maybe even talk to her teacher and make sure nothings changed and shes doing ok. shes going to complain for a while but what kid wouldnt. it would be a good time to talk and bond and shell probally talk about her day more while its taking longer to get home to the tv or friends or games. try it out.

LOL! If I know Emilie the way I think I do, then the only talking she will do on your walks will go something like this...... Pooh: So, Em, how was your day? Emilie: Fine, why do we have to walk, why can't you just drive me? Pooh: Shut up and walk, this is good exercise for you. So what did you do in school today? Emilie: I'm tired, this is taking forever to get home. Pooh: Shut up and walk, we've only been walking for 2 minutes, you can't be tired yet. How was your lunch today? Did you enjoy it? Emilie: I'm soooo tired! Are we almost home yet? Pooh: Shut up and walk, you better get used to it because we are going to do this everyday unless it's raining. Emilie: Is it suppose to rain tomorrow? Pooh: Just shut up and walk!

LMAO Dixie!! That was Too Funny!! ;D And some what right on!! She did complain!! And I told her if she could go all week with out complaining we would get whitey's ice cream. Of course we would ride the double bike to get there no driving. I did tell her the only time we wasn't walking is if it was raining!! LOL ;D But I have to say we talked and laughed the whole way home!! Then she goes we are already home?? I told her yeah, things don't seem as bad when your not complaining and go a lot faster too!! ;D But if anyone should happen to see me in the morning and would want to give me a ride home that would be COOL!! LOL

I know this is an old post but I just had too respond.
All I can say is just think of all the stories the kids will be able to tell their kids when they grow up............
Like when I was your age I had to walk 1 mile to school in the rain, and the snow and it was up hill both ways and I diden't even have my shoes tied. One of my friends kept texting me and the battery went dead on my ipod, and by the time i got home all my friends were off my space and twitter went down so I had to go to bed and not be up an all the gossip when I had to walk to school the next day.

LOL ^^^^ My daughter complained the whole time. I would tell her I had to walk to school in all kinds of weather. I only walked her to school on the nice days cuz heck I am not stupid! I didn't want bring back old bad memories! LOL We no longer walk, we car pool. She is much happier now. And I'm not considered the bad parent for making her walk! ;D
