My buddy has a set on his Polaris, they are pretty heavy, and I dont think they are really all that great for normal riding. Might be decent for snow and stuff, but I have no first hand knowledge. I have another buddy that swears by the maxxis 4snow tires, if you were gonna get them fro jsut snow you might want to check into these.

Realtors are heavy, but they grab well. I used to do Mud drags up at Morrison on a 500 Quad-Zilla. Spider Tracs, Realtors, Bear Claws are all great tires, but if it's clawing through the mud you want to do, you can't beat a set of 22" Mud machines. Besides size of tires, you need to consider what type of riding you will do. Realtors & MudMachines are great for the deep stuff, but not so great for trail riding... this is true, when i put my mud sharks on and tried to powerslide around a corner on a dry trail, i just wheelied into a tree. i would have been fine with stockers or some simple rzrs

i also run ITP holeshot XC's on all 4 corners on my other 400ex and they are horrible in mud. with the close proximity of the tread they tend not to clear out so good in the stickier mud like at gob hill.

The regular razr rears have worked awesome for me this year. I had no issues with getting stuck in the mud, and they have worn really well.

Just for my own personal amusement, I'd like to know what type of terrain you could run turf tamers in that would sink Raz'rs?? Raz'rs are WAY more aggressive in tread, have a deeper lug profile and are spaced further apart for better self-cleaning. The Raz'rs I had were 22" so they allowed just as much clearance as any other taller tire. In my personal opinion, the ONLY plus for turf tamers versus Raz'rs is smoothness of the ride. Just like on a pick-up, aggressive tires ride bad compared to tame treads. I would easily put a large sum of cash on a face off between 2 identical quads running each type of tires....and I'll even let you pick the terrain!!! Interested? (this is a debate thread right?....hehehe)

i hate to do this but im gonna give some credit to mojo... sigh... he has turf tamers on his mojave and he can cook through some serious deep mud that swallows most utes (jonesz). i dont know how he does it...

Your right, Mojo does cut through the mud. If it makes you feel any better, his Mohave is only a 250, so it is alot lighter weight and won't sink like the bigger sporty's or ute's. Not to down play Mojo and his quad, but weight could play a part in the facts. I'm by no means an expert on tires and I don't claim to know anything about them, however, that might be the reason.

I agree with QDoc about not bragging what one tire did to another because we all know of a time when one quad did something another couldn't do...and the reasons are infinite, not just tires. As far as Mojo and his mojave......Yes I have seen him go through some crazy terrain BUT I guarantee it's influenced more by his CRAZY aggression when riding his light quad than his choice of tires. As a matter of fact, I would love to see him mount Raz'rs on his Mojave and let him loose. He would probably be winning mud bog events in the utility class!! hahahaaa There isn't a perfect way to test tires against each other so that it is completely equal, BUT if you have some knowledge of tire tread design and the purpose of different features (compound, ply, knob shape, knob profile, knob spacing, wall construction, etc.) it is pretty easy to know what tire design would perform better in poor traction areas. Otherwise all the utilities would be running turf tamers!!! Ok.......I'm spent.

I do alot of research before buying tires to see what other people like and the style they ride. I actually had a chart made up at my house when I went to buy my new Ute tires. I ended up with 27" Mudlites. Not just because they are a good mud tire but they are also a good trail tire that gives you a lighter feel on the steering and not so much tire shake when they are riding at slow speeds. I think it was 2 1/2 weeks of research before I finally chose my tire setup. Everyone has to have a opinion and they all think their choice is the best. The key is weeding through all the horse dung to find the truth.
