Some of the buggy folks are looking at this place for next year's rally, so I was curious if anybody on here has been there? Is there more than just riding on the path? Any areas to get muddy, do some racing, hill climbing, etc? Anybody camp out there?
thanks

Twister, my opinion is your buggy club would be very disappointed in the WI Cheese Trail. Cadman and I went there around three or four years ago and haven't been back since. All it is, is an old railroad path with the rails removed. Unless they have had rain or snow, the pea gravel surface is EXTREMELY dusty, and makes it very difficult to breathe. The paths, traveled from town to town are very wide (15-20 feet) with some trails that jet off. We didn't really explore the side trails due to riding with others who didn't want to leave the main path. I will say, however, the Cheese Trail is very scenic with the surrounding trees and farm ground, but if your looking for challenging, look somewhere else. Just my opinion.
As for camping? Yes, there are places to camp with showers and the such in the different towns
There are some other trails in WI that I have heard are quite nice. You may want to consider some of them as well.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Side by sides, buggys, etc. aren't allowed on their trails?
I did hear that they were trying to change that law this year though...
If you guys are allowed to bring buggies to WI then I suggest making the drive and heading north. I recently did some research on a ATV Camping trip up there and there looks to be some awesome riding/campign up there.
I have only been to Black River Falls area, which was pretty cool and all we heard when we were up there was go farther north, it gets better the farther up you go..
I have always heard the cheese trail stinks and that there is speed limits there.

Thanks guys. Yes, you can drive buggies there, just have to wrap the roll cage in bright orange. Stupid how they make more restrictions for the already safer vehicle. A couple folks I know went up there, but didn't get off the main path. I don't mind some straight on riding with good scenery, but I need some variety.
I've heard Black River Falls was cool.

Black River Falls was cool!!!!
If you want to bar hop and cruise for a weekend, hit the cheese trail up..
If you want to have a good time with a variety of stuff to do, hit up Black River Falls and drink at night..
