I honestly don't understand what the folks at Crooked creek did with the grant money they got, but they sure didn't spend much on the trails. It was a little wet when we went, and the trails were in terrible shape. A lot of off-camber hills, many of which were rutted badly. Made it pretty treacherous when wet. The main trail is decent. Looks like an old logging road. Nothing is marked for difficulty. You could head down a very easy looking trail, only to come to a twisting downhill off-camber with no by-pass. The only option if you weren't comfortable with the hill was to turn back. All in all, we weren't impressed. The area isn't large enough to warrant the $10 fee. A huge section of it isn't even accessible because of the steepness of the hills. We won't go back until we know they've done a lot of work to it. Pretty sad considering I only live 5 miles away from it.

That's too bad Rubidude! I will agree that most of the Illinois parks have a lot of work to do before they can even come close to competing with surrounding states. I wish Illinois would follow IA or Mo lead, some of their parks are awesome.
