I have been looking at some of the places to ride here on the forum. Mostly the parks in Iowa and Illinois. The thing is they all have somethings that makes them good parks. But it comes down to just a few thing that would make me go to that park on a regular basis. Price( because of the economy) and what they offer for the price. The distance I have to travel to get to the park. Not singling out any one Illinois park, but Illinois state funded parks have dropped the ball when it come to price for admission and the added price of a state sticker. When Iowa state funded parks just have a state sticker price with no admission price. Don't get me wrong I will still go to some Illinois parks this year, but I think the prices are going to have to change or Illinois parks are going to start going away. What are your thoughts?

This is just my opinion, but it seems most Iowa parks are owned solely by the state of Iowa and the Illinois parks are owned by an individual with the state of Illinois backing.
I'm not, by any means, knocking the Illinois parks for trying to make money, but I believe if the parks were owned and run solely by the state, the costs would be much like our Iowa neighbors.
Maybe we could get some input from an Illinois park to help us understand their position.

i have to agree with price thing $16.50 for iowa for a year is great and there are several parks to chosse from but on the il side i do feel that there is a chance to make a good relationship with the owners and change thing for them to help it take off and get on the right track

illinois also needs park participants who will keep the park in managable conditions with little to no financial reimbursment. i think the iowa parks succeed because the people who occasionally work on then do it for free

Sorry palerider that is SO not a real bathroom I've been to Solon!! A real bathroom has a door and it either has heat or air!! Plus the toilet's need to actually flush, well in my mind that is a real bathroom!! If that is what you consider a real bathroom maybe your older than you say?? LOL ;D

I have to agree with you Jonesz. I think that riders that help do park up keep like the Iowa parks, tend to take better care of the park when they are riding knowing they had a part in some of work. But I still think it will come down to money as a bottom line. Think about ST Joe State park Mo. and what they offer for $ 3.00 per day! The southern Illinois state funded parks can't compete with that! Btw they have no state sticker to pay for as well!

Now that I think back on another post I think I am going to have to agree with Dixie, "But I think I now know why you are no longer a carpenter"!! So if that is a fort that you built then Solon bathrooms are condo's because the do have two other walls and a roof!! LOL
